Hub
Promoting sustainable agriculture, resilient food systems, and responsible resource management to support communities across the continent.
About Resource and Agriculture Hub
The Resource and Agriculture Hub focuses on the vital nexus of food security, water management, and ecosystem health. With agriculture being the backbone of many African economies, ensuring its sustainability in the face of climate change is paramount. We work with smallholder farmers, agribusinesses, and research institutions to promote regenerative agricultural practices that restore soil health, conserve water, and increase biodiversity. Our holistic approach integrates traditional knowledge with modern science to build resilient food systems that can withstand climate shocks while ensuring equitable access to resources.

Projects
The Resource & Agriculture Hub is designing a portfolio of climate-smart agriculture, natural resource, and rural resilience initiatives aimed at strengthening food systems, restoring ecosystems, and supporting inclusive green livelihoods. The following initiatives are currently under development as part of our institutional project pipeline.

Climate-Smart Farming Initiative
The Climate-Smart Farming Initiative is being developed as a large-scale capacity-building and demonstration programme to support the transition of smallholder farming systems toward regenerative and climate-resilient practices. The initiative is envisioned to focus on techniques such as cover cropping, soil restoration, conservation agriculture, integrated pest management, and sustainable land use practices. During the development phase, the Hub is working on: ● designing farmer training and extension frameworks ● developing partnerships with cooperatives, local governments, and technical institutions ● structuring monitoring systems for productivity, resilience, and ecosystem outcomes ● exploring scalable delivery and financing models The long-term objective is to improve farm productivity and resilience while supporting soil health, ecosystem restoration, and climate mitigation outcomes.

Nile Basin Water Stewardship Initiative
The Nile Basin Water Stewardship Initiative is being designed as a regional programme to support improved water efficiency, sustainable agricultural water use, and collaborative water management approaches across Nile Basin communities. The initiative is envisioned to integrate: ● climate-smart irrigation solutions ● water efficiency planning for agricultural users ● community-based water governance and stewardship models ● cross-sector and cross-border collaboration frameworks Current development work focuses on concept design, stakeholder mapping, technical scoping, and partnership engagement to support equitable, climate-resilient, and sustainable water resource management.

Agro-Processing Value Chain Development Program
The Agro-Processing Value Chain Development Program is being developed to strengthen local agricultural value chains by supporting climate-aligned agro-processing, post-harvest management, and inclusive enterprise development. The programme is envisioned to focus particularly on: ● women-led and youth-led cooperatives ● value-addition and local processing models ● post-harvest loss reduction strategies ● market access and enterprise sustainability support During the development phase, the Hub is designing value-chain frameworks, partnership models, and technical assistance structures aimed at improving rural incomes, strengthening food system resilience, and supporting sustainable local economic development.
